FanDuel to Broadcast European Basketball in the US
One of North America’s largest sportsbook operators and EuroLeague Basketball took a small but crucial step this week. FanDuel announced it would partner with the quickly growing league to provide at least one game for each round of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague on all three of its US broadcast “channels”.
FanDuel and EuroLeague Look to The Future
Both FanDuel and EuroLeague continue to see phenomenal growth in their product offerings. While this deal is a baby step, it shows that both companies are looking to lock down potential partners to grow their brands.
FanDuel TV+ is available on most satellite and cable channels and has grown from covering mostly horse racing to covering all aspects of US sports leagues in just a few short years. FanDuel TV Extra is an ad-supported channel found on streaming companies like Roku, Pluto, or Plex, and has millions of daily viewers despite launching just last year.
Featuring not only original series based around sports, it has also broadcast international basketball from China, Turkey, and Germany. You can also catch many other games, like darts, Ping-Pong, or international soccer games, on its streaming channel, which you can find on its website.
Why This Partnership Makes Sense?
EuroLeague Basketball had triple-digit growth in 2023 and is widely believed to be on track for a similar growth rate this year. Their final four championships in Berlin in May of this year saw a spectacular rise in social media views. Total views were up to 165 million, which grew 160% over the previous year.
With FanDuel TV now providing much broader access to the burgeoning US sports market, where more than 30 states allow some form of sportsbook wagering, both companies are well positioned to grow their market share.
Our agreement will provide more visibility to Europe’s premier basketball league and bring even more captivating watch-and-wager programming to FanDuel TV– Mike Raffensperger, President of Sports at FanDuel, PR Newswire
More than 70% of US citizens describe themselves as sports fans, and the EuroLeague’s fast-paced basketball offerings and its much-anticipated Final Four are bound to garner new fans on this side of the Atlantic.
