Deal Replaces Gannett’s Partnership with BetMGM

The US subsidiary of worldwide sportsbook and gaming operator Tipico has just revealed that it has signed an exclusive landmark deal with American mass media holding company Gannett Co.

As part of the momentous deal, Tipico is set to become the exclusive sports betting and iGaming provider for Gannett, the latter of which owns the highly popular and influential USA Today Network, along with a range of other local media outlets across the United States such as The Oklahoman and The Indianapolis Star.

Another noteworthy aspect of the deal between Tipico US and Gannett is that it will replace the mass media empire’s previous partnership with MGM-Entain joint group venture BetMGM (who also operate one of the best online casinos in the USA). The nitty gritty details of the partnership are not yet widely available; however it is known that Tipico will integrate odds, props, free-to-play games and betting trends across the USA Today Network. Furthermore, the provider has committed to $90 million in media spend over the course of the five-year agreement. Tipico will also pay performance incentives to Gannett in return for customer referrals.

More news from BetMGM arrived in late April 2021, when it announced it would become Michigan’s second online poker operator, joining PokerStars MI. Not long after, the casino operator also revealed that it was joining forces with local baseball team the Detroit Tigers.

To celebrate the occasion, BetMGM Poker put out unique promotional offers tied to local MGM retail locations, such as the MGM Grand Detroit, as well as general MGM locations around the US. And shortly before this, in January 2021, BetMGM had launched its online sports betting and online casino content in Michigan.
