Key Facts:

  • Caesars Virginia grand opening planned for Tuesday, December 17
  • Danville-based casino expected to draw visitors from in-state and North Carolina
  • Caesars Virginia will feature 1,500 slot machines and 50,000 square foot gaming floor

Following a protracted period of construction, the much-anticipated casino in Danville will open on December 17. Caesars Virginia will be the first casino from that company in the state, and given its location near the border of North Carolina, it’s expected to be a great tourist draw.

Caesars estimates that the project will end up costing more than $700 million. That’s because construction prices have soared since the groundbreaking in mid-2022.

Caesars Virginia was built on the former site of the Dan River Mills textile campus, but visitors will not recognize the location. The new development is not only an attractive gaming and entertainment facility: the resort hotel has in excess of 300 guest rooms, as well as conference rooms, a spa, swimming pools, restaurants, and more.

Caesars Will Pump Millions and Jobs Into the Local Economy

According to an impact study commissioned by Caesars, the new casino resort will provide 1,200 jobs, and bring millions of dollars in tax revenue to Danville, the county, and the state.

“Our property started out with just over 400 Team Members when the temporary facility opened last year, and we are on track to hire more than 1,200 by the time we open our doors in December,” said Chris Albrecht, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Caesars Virginia.

Some of the most notable features of Caesars Virginia:

  • 1,500 slot machines and more than 75 tables
  • A 320+ room resort hotel with amenities, including a spa and pool
  • Three Sisters smokestacks pays homage to local cultural history
  • A life-sized statue of Roman emperor Augustus
  • A massive golden chandelier hovering above impressive white marble columns at the entrance
  • A World Series of Poker room
  • Caesars Sportsbook retail location
  • Restaurant designed by famed chef Gordon Ramsay

A Grand Opening Worthy of Waiting for

Although five days might be a lot for fans of gambling, everyone who is eager to explore the new Caesars venue will be well compensated for the wait. The company will reward the most patient gamblers with a very well-organized celebration starting at 10:15 AM.

A parade of racecars will open the event. Still, soon after that, some of the executives of Caesars Entertainment and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (a partner of Caesars) will outline their remarks. At 8PM, fireworks and a drone show will continue entertaining guests.
