There’s no place like home. That’s what the Wizard of Oz taught viewers of that famed film. Home for the Wizard of Oz-themed slots games will soon be BetMGM Casino, thanks to an exclusive partnership signed by the game developer Light & Wonder, BetMGM, and Warner Bros.

The Wizard of Oz characters and story are the intellectual property of Warner Bros.. The slot games, available to online casino players, were designed and developed by Light & Wonder, an award-winning company based in Las Vegas.

Under the agreement between BetMGM and Light & Wonder, Warner Bros., the Wizard of Oz games, which includes at least six titles, will exclusively be available on BetMGM’s platforms. Moving forward, additional titles will be made available to BetMGM.

Light & Wonder currently offers its games in five states. The games are listed under the Over the Rainbow slot category. New titles in the series are planned for release in 2025 and 2026.

In each of the last five years, Light & Wonder has won gaming awards, including from the Global Gaming Awards London, International Gaming Awards, and Gaming Intelligence Awards. Three times the company has been nominated for SBC North America Awards “Casino Supplier of the Year.”

The Wizard of Oz was first introduced in a series of books written by L. Frank Baum, starting with the first volume in 1900. The movie debuted in 1939 to much fanfare and featured the previously unknown 16-year-old Judy Garland as Dorothy.

The film became a cultural milestone and remains popular with viewers over eight decades later. Popular movie and game series characters include the Wicked Witch, the Good Witch, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, the Munchkins, and the Wizard.

BetMGM recently announced an expansion of efforts for responsible gambling in light of concerns nationally over increases in gambling addiction.

March is Problem Gambling Month in the United States. The platform has a collaborative relationship with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and Kindbridge Behavioural Health to research gambling addiction.

So far, just a few years after the spread of legalized gaming in the U.S., little professional research has been completed to find the impacts of online casinos on the growth of gambling addictions or problem gambling.
