Everi Holdings Partners with BCLC
Teamwork makes the dream work: gaming machine and financial trading services company Everi Holdings has announced that it is stepping into a new partnership with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) in Canada to support the organization’s anti-money laundering battles in the Canadian province. Everi will do so by providing its Everi Compliance anti-money laundering software.
Everi Holdings Also Supplies BCLC with Land-Based and Slot Offerings in British Columbia
Good news for gambling integrity in British Columbia – bad news for money launderers: the gaming machine and financial trading services company Everi Holdings has revealed that it has secured a new partnership with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) in Canada with the aim of supporting its anti-money laundering efforts in the Canadian province.
According to the agreement, Everi will furnish its Everi Compliance anti-money laundering software to aid the BCLC’s gaming and online operations. This will take care of the BCLC’s lottery, casino, bingo and online gaming operations.
The Everi Compliance software product is currently being used in more than 600 gaming properties across a diverse range of markets. The deal in question prolongs Everi’s relationship with the BCLC, with the provider already treating the provincial lottery operator with both land-based and online slot content throughout the province of British Columbia.
Everi Digital Online Gaming Branch is Biggest Supplier of Three-Reel Stepper Games to BCLC’s PlayNow.com Service
For those as of yet unfamiliar with Everi Digital, the provider’s online gaming division is the largest supplier of digital three-reel stepper products to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation’s (BCLC) PlayNow.com online casino service.
To celebrate the news of the partnership, Darren Simmons, executive vice president and fintech business leader at Everi, boasted the provider’s ability to dynamically cater to its clients’ needs, stressing that it always places the question of compliance in first place:
“Everi is committed to adapting to customer needs as the industry changes and creates exciting new opportunities. BCLC has prioritized high levels of compliance as part of the continued expansion of their fast-growing gaming operations in casinos and online platforms across British Columbia.”– Darren Simmons, Executive Vice President and Fintech Business Leader, Everi Holdings, Press Release
Simmons also noted how Everi’s RegTech offering is suitable for many different contexts, before mentioning how it was excited to be getting behind the British Columbia Lottery Corporation’s important anti-money laundering efforts:
“Our RegTech solutions are designed for a wide variety of applications, and we are proud to have been chosen to support BCLC’s critical anti-money laundering program.”
British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) Issued Warning About Illegal Gambling Websites in September 2022
The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) is serious about cracking down on illegal and unlicensed gambling operations, with the organization issuing a public disclaimer in September 2022 warning against the dangers of gambling with unlicensed websites.
The timing of the warning was fortuitous, given that it arrived shortly before the Fall 2022 National Football League (NFL) season. BCLC’s warning against playing with unlicensed operators reinforced the fact that there is somewhat of a monopoly on online gambling in British Columbia, given that PlayNow.com acts as the only site that players can legally place bets through in the Canadian province.
As per usual, the main reason cited as to why British Columbian players shouldn’t bet through offshore operators is the lack of consumer protections they offer, which PlayNow.com has in the form of GameSense Advisors – individuals available to contact via telephone and online chat in order to support players to keep up healthy gambling habits.
Driving home this point was chief compliance officer and vice president of legal, compliance and security at the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), Marie-Noëlle Savoie, who emphasized the stringent requirements PlayNow.com must meet in order to even be up and running in the province:
“BCLC’s PlayNow.com must meet stringent requirements to support safe and secure online gambling, including those related to technical integrity, age verification and protection of personal information. For British Columbians who choose to bet on sports, we want them to choose PlayNow.com because it’s the only legal gambling website in BC and the only whose profits go back to the province to support things we all rely on, like healthcare, education and community programs.”– Marie-Noëlle Savoie, Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of Legal, Compliance and Security, British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), Press Release
BCLC Stepped Into Province of Saskatchewan Back in June 2022
Back in June 2022, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) stepped outside of the borders of British Columbia with the announcement that it would be expanding the reach of its PlayNow.com online gambling platform into the province of Saskatchewan.
The move came as the product of a deal secured at the time between PlayNow.com and both the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) and SaskGaming. Though more precisely, in 2021 the SIGA launched a request for proposal process, which the deal between PlayNow.com and SaskGaming clearly won.
British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) president and chief executive Lynda Cavanaugh positioned the news as a strong indication of the growing success of Canada’s legal gambling industry:
“This partnership reinforces the confidence the legal gambling industry has in BCLC, and our leadership in providing players with entertaining and engaging gambling experiences through our safe and secure online platform, PlayNow.com.”
