More Ways to Snag a Platinum Pass To Players Championship
The 2023 PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) is now just four months away. Keeping the forthcoming event in the spotlight, PokerStars has recently announced three more live events where players can win a coveted Platinum Pass.

The prize, worth $30,000, includes a $25,000 buy-in into the PSPC, six nights’ accommodation for the pass owner and a guest in a five-star hotel, airport transfer, merchandise, and $1,900 expense money to cover the cost of flights to the event location, the Bahamas.
The Road to a Caribbean Adventure
The first of the three new ‘Road to PSPC’ events will be staged in Bucharest, Romania. Running between October 12th and 16th at the Poker Room Bucharest, a €400 Main Event competition with a €150,000 guarantee will see the tournament winner awarded a scarce Platinum Pass.
PokerStars will then head to Club Circus Paris for another ‘Road to PSPC’ event. This French tournament – also costing €400 to enter – will run from November 8th until the 13th. It will also award the winner with a $30,000 Pass that is added to the prize pool.
Finally, as part of the upcoming Brazilian Series of Poker Millions event, PokerStars will be hosting another ‘Road to PSPC’ tournament. From November 14th until the 17th, players can participate in a mystery bounty format event costing BRL$1,000 (c£168) where a Platinum Pass will be added to the prize pool and hidden in one of the envelopes awarded to players who knock another out.
How Can I Qualify for the PSCP?
For those who cannot make their way to a ‘Road to PSCP’ live event or want to get involved for less, PokerStars online satellites are running every weekend. Entry to these can be made at any of four steps/stages. These are:
- Step 0 – $0.50 Spin & Go or Sit & Go tournament
- Step 1 – $1.50 or $5 Sit & Go tournament
- Step 2 – $20 Multi-Table Tournament
- Step 3 – $100 Multi-Table Tournament
- Step 4 – $1,000 Multi-Table Tournament
*Step-4 is an exclusive tournament for Step-3 qualifiers only. No direct buy-ins are allowed.
Decades-Old Tournament Is on the Move
2023 will mark the second PokerStars Players Championship but Europe’s longest-running Poker Festival, the Irish Open is considerably older. First held in 1980, the competition has been staged in Dublin throughout its lifespan. However, it has always struggled to find a permanent home.
This week, organizers have confirmed next year’s festival will once again take place over the Easter break, running from April 3rd until the 10th. However, there is another change of venue with the RDS Dublin in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, hosting the event for the first time.
The €1,000,000 guaranteed Main Event will continue with its €1,150 buy-in. It will run from Wednesday, April 5th until Monday, April 10th, with multiple starting days available to suit traveling players.
The 2022 Irish Open Main Event drew a staggering 2,040 entries to create a €1,989,000 prize pool. Honorary Irishman Steve O’Dwyer lifted the trophy and took home €318,700 for his efforts.
