Realistic Games Joins Forces With Microgaming in Content Distribution Deal

Realistic Games has taken a massive step forward this week, signing a lucrative content distribution deal with industry veteran, Microgaming. The deal will see Realistic titles integrated into operator libraries which belong to the Microgaming platform. The titles in question consist primarily of three and five-reel slots and will be available across 20 international markets as part of the deal. As such, Realistic’s reach as a developer is expected to increase exponentially. The decision is a mutually beneficial one, as Microgaming stands to profit greatly from the further diversification of its portfolio.

A Brief History of Both Companies

If you’ve played online before, you’ve almost certainly played a Microgaming game. The industry veteran has been crafting top quality casino software since 1994 and has released such popular hits as Immortal Romance and the insanely popular progressive jackpot slot Mega Moolah. In recent years it has been expanding its portfolio, buying up titles from smaller developers and in turn giving them a wider platform to reach the player base they so rightly deserve. Explaining the most recent acquisition of Realistic Games titles, Microgaming Director of Global Operations, James Buchanan said,

“As a content supplier of choice, we are always on the lookout for high-quality games with standout functionality to deliver premium entertainment to our operators.”

Though a considerably younger company than Micogaming, Realistic has some heavy-hitting titles of its own to boast. The Reading-based studio was founded in 2002 and originally honed its skills in creating high-quality roulette and blackjack products. In 2011 the studio switched gears with the launch of its remote games server, ReGaL, and has since been proving itself as an innovative force within the industry. Realistic’s commercial director, Robert Lee, feels confident that the company can offer a great deal to Microgaming’s portfolio.

“By signing this agreement not only do we add another tier one supplier to our growing list, but it is also a great opportunity for us to increase our customer reach. We can offer them a lot of new and different game types, and are very confident we will be able to provide their customers with content that players will enjoy.”Robert Lee, Commercial Director, Realistic Games

Microgaming’s Most Recent Deals and Acquisitions

The recent deal with Realistic is far from Microgaming’s only foray into expanding its portfolio and global reach as a provider of gaming software and entertainment. Earlier this month the company took on London-based Ascensus Interactive’s poker room as part of its flagship Players Come First brand. Speaking about the Ascensus deal just last week, Microgaming’s managing director of poker, Alex Scott, said,

“I am impressed by the team’s collective experience and talent, along with their dedication to responsible gambling and corporate social responsibility, which fits in perfectly with our ethos at Microgaming.”

The deal will see Ascensus Interactive gain access to the Microgaming Poker Network’s management platform, which allows for a smoother gameplay experience for players. As part of the network, players will also be privy to regular promotions to reward them for their custom and loyalty. When discussing the deal, this is what Ascensus co-founder and CEO Eugene Castro had to say:

“When we initially decided to build our own gaming platform, we intended to make poker the cornerstone of our offerings. We had planned early on to get on board with the MPN because of their innovative software, industry-leading management tools and outstanding passion for poker.”

Co-founder, Hilly Ehrlich, echoed these sentiments:

“Having been associated with many poker networks, I am confident the MPN has the right formula and people, not to mention terrific software. I have no doubt our platform will benefit immensely from our association with Microgaming.”

Good News for Players Moving Forward

Though the benefits to the developers are obvious, this all spells good news for players too. Realistic’s slots will now be available to a wider user base thanks to the new platforming, and Microgaming’s poker platform is bringing more and more quality content and enticing offers to players around the world. It’s unlikely that Microgaming will stop diversifying its portfolio any time soon, and we can look forward to many more deals like this over the course of the year. As always, we’ll keep you up to date on any further developments as they occur.
