Pam Bergin Leaves CEO Role at Gambling Awareness Trust
The Gambling Awareness Trust in Ireland is looking for a new chief executive officer.

Pam Bergin, the current CEO at the charity, confirmed in a post on social media that she is leaving after five years.
Ireland is going through a period of flux for the gambling industry, with long-awaited new regulations for the sector having recently been passed.
Bergin’s replacement at the charity will be charged with leading it through the new era.
Fantastic Experience
Writing on her personal LinkedIn page, Bergin described her time with the Gambling Awareness Trust as a “fantastic experience”.
The body was created in 2019, with Bergin having been with the charity from that year.
She said: “I still remember the excitement and trepidation I felt as I embarked on the role of CEO in 2019 tasked with addressing an area that had been totally overlooked in our society for so long. There’s been highs and lows and lots of learning! All invaluable insights along the way that I will remain grateful for.”
“I’ve met some of the most amazing people, those in active gambling addiction, those in recovery, family members who were kind enough to share their experiences with me in an effort to help others. So many people who genuinely care and are eager to provide support and services across the country collaborated with me to make incredible things happen.”
Bergin added “thousands of people” have been supported by the Gambling Awareness Trust since it was set up, and she was “truly grateful” to have worked with the charity.
Pivotal Role
In a posting on its official website, the Gambling Awareness Trust said Bergin’s replacement would play a “pivotal role” in leading it over the next two years.
The fixed-term contract includes half a dozen key responsibilities, which include operations and financial management, leadership and strategy, governance and board relations, and more.

Tom Hayes is the current chair of the Gambling Awareness Trust, with board members including former health minister Kathleen Lynch, addition expert Willie Collins and Michael Culhan, the former executive director of finance and services with An Garda Síochána.
