  • NGSN reached around 11,000 people between April 2023 and March 2024, the group said
  • This was a rise of 12 per cent year-on-year, showing the growth of the NGSN over recent years

NGSN, which is a network of organisations across the UK, was set up a couple of years ago to provide free and confidential advice.

The EPIC Restart Foundation and Reframe Coaching have now been added to the NGSN. GambleAware, the industry-backed grant-making body that commissioned setting up the network, has welcomed the move.

Deputy chief executive Anna Hargrave said: “Gambling harms can affect anyone, and it is vital that there is a service for everyone that needs support, regardless of whether they are at the start, or nearing the end, of their journey to recovery.”

Compassionate Guidance

Adding the two new groups will help with the growth of the NGSN, which says it reached around 11,000 people between April 2023 and March 2024.

This was a rise of 12 per cent year-on-year, with the EPIC Restart Foundation and Reframe Coaching helping to serve that increased need for support in the UK.

EPIC Restart Foundation interim chief executive and the body’s head of programmes, Richie Paxton, said he was “excited” to join the National Gambling Support Network.

He said: “At EPIC Restart, we are dedicated to offering compassionate guidance and coaching, grounded in lived experience. Our mission is not only to help individuals navigate their recovery, but also to empower them to rebuild their lives with renewed hope and a brighter future.”

Lived Experience Recovery Organisation

Reframe Coaching, set up by husband-and-wife Steve and Rashael Girling five years ago, is also “delighted” to have become a part of the NGSN.

She said: “When we set up the charity in 2020 our aim was to be able to provide ongoing Recovery support to ‘anyone’ who has been affected by gambling.

“As a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation, all of our support is carried out by trained Recovery Coaches who also have lived experience of gambling harms. This means that for those accessing our support, they know they will be speaking to someone who has been there and understands.

“We look forward to working alongside the members of the NGSN to help provide a recovery focus that compliments the treatment that is currently available.”

NGSN, which now includes 13 providers, provides people in the UK with support regarding issues around gambling 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via phone or live chat.
