Gamstop Introduces New Exclusion Option With Auto-Renewal
Gamstop launches a new feature to help tackle long-term gambling problems: 5-year auto-renewal exclusion.
Key Facts:
- New 5-year auto-renewal exclusion feature introduced by Gamstop
- Developed in response to many users requesting exclusion options covering longer periods of time
- Gamstop records its highest number of users in over a year and a half
Gamstop has kicked off 2025 by announcing a new feature that should help those with long-term gambling problems. This is the 5-year auto-renewal exclusion feature, which is designed to make it easier for exclusion feature users to stay out of harm’s way.
User Feedback Encouraged the Feature’s Development
This feature was developed in response to feedback from users. While people have been satisfied with Gamstop’s services and have benefitted from them greatly, some have called for features to help them manage their gambling over longer periods of time.
The feedback was obtained from the company Ipsos, which focuses on researching public opinion and global markets. It carried out an independent survey to find out what users wanted from Gamstop. Some reported feeling anxious about their current exclusion period ending, which encouraged Gamstop to develop the feature.
The way the new feature works is straightforward. People who have opted for a 5-year exclusion will have the period renewed automatically for a further 5 years without having to do anything. This will continue indefinitely unless the user manually opts out.
Anyone who decides to use the new feature will receive reminder emails once every 15 months. These emails will inform users of upcoming renewal dates so they will know when their current exclusion period will end and when the next one will automatically begin.
It’s worth pointing out that the new auto-renewal option isn’t just for users who choose the 5-year exclusion period; it’s also for those who opt for 6-month and 1-year exclusion. Also, anyone who is currently using an exclusion feature can upgrade it to an auto-renewal one.
Gamstop’s CEO, Fiona Palmer, has said the following about the new feature:
Consumers wanted longer exclusion periods and we listened. The introduction of the 5-year auto-renewal exclusion is an important step in ensuring consumers peace of mind when using our service and helping vulnerable consumers take a sustained break from their gambling. – Fiona Palmer, Gamstop CEO, Gamstop CEO Comments on New Auto-Renewal Feature, Gambling Insider
Gamstop’s Highest Registration Numbers in Over a Year
On the first day of 2025, a total of 415 people registered with Gamstop. This was the highest daily figure of new registrants since May 2023. Then, on 2 January, no fewer than 413 people signed up. Demand for Gamstop’s services is clearly very high.
With so many people continuing to use Gamstop, the introduction of the auto-renewal option for exclusion couldn’t have come at a better time. Hopefully, people will take advantage of it to help them better manage their gambling activity over the long term.
