Tipico US Also Partnered Up with Gannett in August 2021

All the way back in August 2021, Gannett Co., which owns the highly popular USA Today network, signed an agreement with sportsbook and gaming operator Tipico US in which Tipico became the exclusive sports betting and iGaming provider for the media giant.

Curiously enough, the deal also had a purpose in replacing the mass media conglomerate’s previous partnership with MGM-Entain joint group venture BetMGM. As is likely somewhat similar in the deal with Gambling.com Group, Tipico will integrate odds, props, free-to-play games and betting trends into the vast USA Today Network.

Stephen Krombolz, vice president of US business development and strategy at Tipico, marked the particularly noteworthy occasion by placing it at the center of the sports betting operator’s strategy in North America:

“This historic agreement with Gannett, one of the most trusted names in global news, media and sports, will immediately bring additional credibility and trust to Tipico Sportsbook’s US operations. These assets will serve as a key component of our North American marketing strategy, driving awareness of the Tipico brand and our products among Gannett’s millions of readers, viewers and listeners – ultimately delivering fantastic acquisition and retention opportunities as we prepare to scale rapidly in the US.”Stephen Krombolz, Vice President of US Business Development, Tipico US, Press Release

BetMGM Launched Sports Betting Operations in Massachusetts in February 2023

Sports betting grows ever-more entrenched in American society, as casino and sportsbook giant BetMGM launches its sports betting offering in the state of Massachusetts in February 2023 – shortly after the regulated market officially kicked off on January 31st, 2023.

Mayor of Springfield, Massachusetts, Domenic J. Sarno, which is where the BetMGM Sportsbook & Lounge is located, placed the state’s inaugural bet, expressing relief that the long-winded process had finally reached a fortuitous end:

“Yet another first for our city of Springfield (the City of Firsts) and for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This has been a long time coming and brings yet another chapter of innovation to enhance the operations and development at MGM Springfield. As a strong proponent of MGM Springfield and their marquee Sports Betting Lounge, which will bring more jobs and economic spin-off effect to Springfield and the region, I am honored to join with MGM Springfield President Chris Kelley, BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt, MGM Resorts VP Chris Gumiela, and Bruins Legend and Hall of Famer Ray Bourque, to make the first sports wager in the state – maybe I’ll pick a winner for the Super Bowl.”
