Double Exposure Blackjack Review – Demo & Play for Real!

Scott Lawson Written By Scott Lawson
Last Updated on 13.12.2024

As the name suggests, Double Exposure Blackjack is a variant of the traditional popular card game, where the dealer’s first two cards are placed face-up and ‘exposed’, giving the player a remarkable advantage. However, as you would expect, the game features some rules that compensate for this advantage by returning the house edge to the dealer. Created by Richard Epstein, the popular casino game was later developed by gaming software royalty NetEnt and brought to the online casino scene, complete with first-class graphics and a sharp playing experience. You can play Double Exposure Blackjack at most NetEnt casinos; however, you can see my recommended pick below.

The demo version allows you to get the hang of the a game and become comfortable with it. You can try Double Exposure Blackjack for free below.

A Double Exposure Blackjack game, played with two hands.

It goes without saying that it is important as well, that you take the time to read over the rules of the game before you start playing at any Double Exposure Blackjack real money casinos. For more information on the rules and features of the game, just keep on reading this Double Exposure Blackjack review.

Summary of the Rules and Special Features

Whilst most of the common rules of blackjack are prevalent here, there is of course, a few differences in place to compensate for the two exposed cards of the dealer. The game is played with six regular decks, each shuffled before every game round. Additionally, the dealer must always stand on 17 or higher, and draw cards until they reach 16. You can double down if your initial cards reach a hard 9, 10 or 11.

Because of the two-card face up rule, all game ties go to the dealer, apart from when the player and the dealer both achieve blackjack. The pay-out for a player blackjack is even money and splitting is only allowed once. You will still have the option to split after doubling down. In an online game that boasts a theoretical return to player rate of 99.33% as well as the unique advantage of always seeing the dealers first two cards, you can see why the pay-out for blackjack is only 1 to 1.

If you have read any of my other blackjack variant reviews, such as Buster Blackjack or Super Fun 21, you will know that it is quite common for each game to offer some form of side bet or insurance option. However, since the dealers initial cards are always visible when you play Double Exposure Blackjack, you will not be offered any side bets or insurances.

Play Double Exposure Blackjack for Real Money!

With the unique advantage of being able to see the dealer’s cards from the get go, this exciting variant has proven to be a popular choice amongst classic table game fans for its friendliness to newbies and all-round simple game play. You’ve had the chance to try the game yourself already and learn a little more about the specific rules and features. If you would like to play for money, you can find it at my recommended online casino.
