This is Vegas utilizes a download-only playing interface, although at just under 4.3mb in size, obtaining the required software from the This is Vegas website should not be too difficult. Indeed, I was able to download and install the software without issue.
Unfortunately, registering an account wasn't as easy. For some reason I mistakenly thought I had created an account previously at this casino. As such, I tried my usual username and password combination. This failed - but rather annoyingly since the software now thought I did have an account, refused to show me the 'new user' button. I think this is a slight oversight on the part of the programmers, although I guess they didn't expect idiots like me to forget whether they had already created an account or not!
As such, the first job I had to do was to contact support. I have to say it was quite refreshing to have a genuine reason to contact the support personnel as opposed to making up problems as with other casinos I've reviewed! Thankfully, contacting This is Vegas is made really simple thanks to three easy-to-use contact methods which the casino has made available. First, there is email which is great for non-urgent queries. However, for those pressing matters that demand an instant contact the casino offers support via both telephone and live chat as well. This is a good offering, although only a UK and US toll-free telephone number is given.
I chose to make contact via telephone, and was impressed with the prompt connection that was made with a This is Vegas representative. I was similarly impressed that the support rep was instantly able to understand my issue and to give me a solution. In fact, I needed to remove some data from my computer's registry system, but thanks to some easy instructions I was sent following my phone call I was soon up and running again.
Registration at This is Vegas is very easy, with an attractive-looking form used to collect a new player's details. All play at This is Vegas is denominated in US $, but non-US players should not worry, as many credit cards and e-wallet providers will automatically convert non-US currencies at the time of purchase. Purchasing itself is straight forward and the usual mix of purchasing options are available, including Fire Pay, credit cards and NETeller.
It was the NETeller option I went for when making a purchase, and my $100 transaction request was processed without issue. As a new player I was entitled to claim a bonus on this deposit, but given the fact I hate not being able to cash in when I want to, I opted not to take it. However, for those players that do like bonuses, it really is simple to claim the free money on offer - players simply need to enter a bonus code in the cashier before depositing. This is Vegas has a very nice on-going 15% deposit bonus available to e-wallet depositors, but the major draw is the sign-up bonus worth $250 free (50% match).
My first impression of This is Vegas was very positive. The lobby is very attractive, and I was a big fan of the high quality graphics utilized here and indeed throughout the casino. I think the development team must have had some very talented artists as members. The lobby also displays the This is Vegas loyalty system, which is handy in tracking how many bonus dollars are being earned as you play! Of course, the games are also accessible here and are broken down by type.
I started my play at the Blackjack table - a game that I always enjoy. Two varieties of this game can be found at this casino, one of which allows single-spot bets ranging from $1 to $100 and a multi-hand game that allows bets on up to 3-spots for between $1 and $100 per spot. I actually decided to make some big $25 bets, but unfortunately this strategy back-fired and I soon saw my bank roll slashed in half! However, I did find this game attractive and again the high-quality graphics were good to see. This game also utilizes sound effects to enhance play, although there is no dealer 'voiceover' as I have seen at a number of other casinos.
As well as Blackjack, there are a number of other cool table games to play, including Three Card Poker, Roulette, Pai Gow Poker and Red Dog. As such, a table player should be perfectly satisfied with the This is Vegas selection. Indeed, if other players appreciate the work that has gone into producing each quality game as I did, they could end up betting for a good few hours here! Thankfully, I had some good wins at the other table games to the extent I was able to boost my bankroll up to under the $300.
The next area I had a brief look at was the Video Poker part of the casino. I am partial to a few rounds of video poker every once in a while, although have resigned myself to the fact I will never hit a royal flush! In terms of selection, all popular formats of the game can be found at This is Vegas, including Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild and Aces and Faces. All games can be played using either 1 or 4 hands, although this feature is actually something you set 'in game'. As such, it might appear from the casino menu that only single-hand versions of each game can be found, which is not actually the case.
Unfortunately, my Video Poker luck didn't really improve at This is Vegas. Having said that, I did get some reasonable wins on the 4-hand Aces and Faces game - nothing huge, but I was able to turn $10 into $30+ winners on a decent number of occasions. A nice touch with all the This is Vegas Video Poker games is that the minimum coin size is just $0.05. As such, low rollers will be able to get a full pay table (4000 jackpot) even when betting as little as $0.25 per game. Of course, high-rollers are also catered for, with a $25 /$100 (4-hand) max bet possible.
The final section of the casino I checked out was the slot selection. This was really the reason I wanted to try This is Vegas - to play the much talked about 'I-slots'. These 'interactive slots' are a brand new innovation that can only be found in Rival-powered casinos such as This is Vegas. The concept of these games is that a story is told as a player bets. For example, the 'As The Reels Turn' story tells a humorous tale about a casino and the various people that interact with it (players, showmen, pit boss etc.) The story is told through the use of cartoon-style 'film' clips with the story progressing as certain combinations are successfully hit during slot play.
I actually loved these games and completed 2 of the stories completely. My only word of caution is that it can cost a lot of money to complete each game. However, I was actually incredibly lucky on the 'I-slot' games I played, being lucky enough to activate the various features with relative ease. In fact, due to a run of good luck I was able to get may balance up to the $600 mark!
My luck continued well in to the other slots I played - a selection of 3-reel and 5-reel video games are also available. One game that I really fell in love with was the '5 Reel Circus' slot, where I just seemed to hit bonus round after bonus round. The bonus round on many of the 5-reel games consists of free spins with a multiplier thrown in for good measure. Again, I absolutely loved the graphics used on the slots and in particular on this game.
I also played on some of the three-reel games such as Big Cash Win and Gold Rush, but have to say I didn't find these games particularly interesting. Nevertheless, my good luck run actually meant I ended up my session with a balance of over $2000! This is definitely one of my biggest wins, and in fact was so big I had to split my withdrawals up over a couple of days due to a $2000 daily withdrawal limit imposed by the casino.
I have to say, with this being a new online casino I was slightly concerned I wouldn't get my money. This concern was heightened by a request to send in some documentation confirming my identity, a tactic which untrustworthy casinos often utilize to delay paying a player. However, I needn't have worried and after about 5 days my money was sitting nicely in my NETeller account. In fact, a more recent visit to the casino site shows withdrawals are now processed within 48 hours - even better!
To conclude, I think This is Vegas is an excellent addition to the range of online casinos available. The casino has made a great effort to do something slightly different from the competition, and I think it works well. The range of games is good; although there are only around 20 slot games available, though playing the I-slot games definitely makes up for this. The customer support function works well and as my reasonable sized cash-in shows, the banking facility is good too. I definitely think this casino is worth trying out - I know I for sure will be pumping my winnings back through those slots in the very near future!
