Strike It Lucky Casino Review

Strike It Lucky Casino:

Strike it Lucky Casino is part of the Casino Rewards Group. Although this casino group has been operating for a number of years and owns a number of well-known properties, Strike it Lucky is maybe the least well known of its sites. It was definitely a casino that I had not played at before, and as such I thought I would combine a gamble with another review for Online-Casinos.com.

The first thing that must be stated about this casino is that although it is Microgaming-powered, it only operates in a flash environment. This means that the usual download games available at most Microgaming-powered sites may not be present at Strike it Lucky - only those that Microgaming have adapted for the no-download version will be accessible.

I guess that Strike it Lucky is aiming at a player who is not interested in 'bells and whistles' but who rather wants a quick and simple way to have an almost instant gambling fix. Of course, being a flash casino also means that people who do not like downloading software on to their computer will have no concerns at Strike it Lucky.

As there is no software download required, it does mean that players have to visit the Strike it Lucky site every time they want to play - both 'guest play' and 'real play' casinos are available to players. Unfortunately, the no bells and whistles maxim seems to have been taken a little too literally with the website itself. Unlike many casino sites, the website is plain, and to my mind does not look overly professional. In fact, if I had come across the website and wasn't aware of the software provider / owner I probably would have avoided playing here! There are the usual sections on banking, support etc. but I did think the image portrayed was distinctly amateurish. I guess though that again, those just wanting an easy-to-play casino will not be put off.

Loading the casino itself is very simple, with a quick click being all that is required to launch the casino. The sign-up process is also very easy and after a minute or so of form filling I was up and running. The cashier section of the casino is also very easy to use and is identical to the cashiers found in download Microgaming casinos. As such, there are a number of deposit options available and I made a $100 NETeller deposit.

As a new player, I was entitled to a $20 bonus which is awarded to everyone purchasing over $40. Since I deposited by NETeller I was also given a further $20 bonus, although I think this may have been a special promotion running at the time of playing. A nice touch with all the Casino Rewards casinos is that loyalty bonuses etc. are combined for all the casinos in the group. This means that play across all the group's casino is taken into account when rewarding comps etc. Remember though, always check terms and conditions before accepting a bonus!

At Strike it Lucky, games are grouped by type, which seems to be the standard interface being adopted by a number of casinos. This does make things easy, as all table games for example are instantly viewable to the player. Indeed, with the table games menu in front of me I decided to play some Blackjack.

Blackjack has always been my game of choice, and as such I was keen to see how Strike it Lucky presented the game, bearing in mind this casino utilizes Flash. Firstly, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to see a good choice of Blackjack games (based on rules) available, and decided to settle at the European Blackjack table. Another surprise for me was the decent betting range at the table - $2 - $1000. This is higher than I have seen for many no-download casinos.

However, although up until now I had been impressed, when I went to make my first bet I noticed that a player has to play an amount pre-defined by the casino. By this I mean that a player cannot simply place any value bet on the table, particularly at the high end limit - for example above a $200 bet value the only betting options available are $500 and $1000! This really isn't great, particularly for medium-high end players who might like to play $300, for example, per hand.

Despite this drawback, I personally wasn't too affected as I was placing low value bets. I have to say that the actual rest of the game presentation was good as well. The graphics are of a reasonable quality, and are definitely better than I expected from a no-download casino. There's even a dealer voice present to add to the realism! However, for those looking for things like 'expert' mode (as found in download Microgaming casinos), unfortunately you will be disappointed. Again, it seems that the focus has been on key elements of gaming and not on the 'extras' found elsewhere.

Of course, in terms of 'fair play', the same Random Number Generator created by Microgaming powers both this casino and the download one, and as such everything is above board in this department. However, the string of losers I encountered definitely made me feel like the casino was against me!

In fact, I lost my entire $100 deposit just by playing around on some of the table games! I moved on from Blackjack to try some Stud Poker but again found that luck had abandoned me! I have to say though that this was partly because I was throwing around some big bets to try and recoup my BJ losses - a bad strategy as many people will tell you!

As such, I made another $200 deposit and made my way to the Video Poker section of the casino. As with the table games, a very decent selection of games is available at Strike it Lucky; including a range of multi-hand games. However, more recent additions from Microgaming (such as the 50 and 100 hand games) are not playable. Nevertheless, the games that are present play smoothly, and again I was impressed with the overall quality of the games considering the casino is completely no-download.

In terms of my luck, although it was slightly better on the Video Poker games, I still didn't do great! I had a few reasonable Deuces Wild Power Poker hands; but nothing to boast about. As players of this game will know, unless a deuce is dealt on the initial deal it makes winning very, very difficult indeed. At times it felt like the deck had no deuces in it at all! Of course though, every player goes through these losing sessions! My problem again here was my belief that increasing bet size would help me - all it did was make losing quicker!

I still had slots to review, so I put in a further $100 - at this point I was in for $400! Again, I was impressed with the range of slots available at Strike it Lucky Casino; I think I counted 62 available in all. All the well-known Microgaming games are available, including progressive slots such as Cash Splash and the huge Major Millions.

I settled down to the 'Pub Fruity' machine, which is a single-line slot that is supposed to emulate the Fruit Machine Slots found in England. Having had some experience of the land-based equivalents I thought I would give it a try. The game offers wins through both spinning in winning combinations, but also by spinning in numbers which accelerate a player up the prize ladder. While I actually had some fun on this game, it didn't pay much, and I know from past experience that unless the bonus game is activated (which guarantees a 50x payout) then it's hard to make money.

I did move around some of the other slots including Jackpot Express (a game I've won the jackpot on before!) as well as the Treasure Nile and Major Millions 5-line progressive. Although I ended up losing my $100 (again!), I was impressed with the quality of the slot games. The graphics are of a good quality and some even have pretty cool sound effects. Actually, I think that I have come across worse download slots than those in Strike it Lucky's flash casino!

At this point I was $400 down, and although I had played a while, I have to say I was a little disappointed. As such, I decided to make one last $100 deposit. Lucky I did! I headed back to the Blackjack table and suddenly I couldn't lose! In fact, after a few risky bets I was on $475! So, I had put in $500 in total and was now only $25 down. Deciding that I wouldn't risk my bad luck returning, I cashed in this amount!

Although this was quite a large cash-in, I had no problems with withdrawing, although there is an annoying 24-hour pending period during which a cash-in can be reversed by the player. However, after waiting for about 48 hours I found the money back in my NETeller account - clearly Casino Rewards know what they are doing when it comes to banking.

Finally, I will comment on the support at this casino, which I actually genuinely had a need to contact this time! (I wanted to know if a fax-back form was needed). First, I tested email support which, although proved to work (I received an email response) was on the slow side, as it took over 48 hours for a response to arrive. However, the toll-free support numbers (available for 5 countries) proved to work fine. Incidentally, live chat is supposedly available but always showed as busy when I tried it. As such, I guess it makes sense to call this group if you have an urgent question.

All in all, Strike it Lucky is actually a better casino than I thought it would be. A good number of games are available and the quality of game play is definitely adequate if not better. Similarly, banking and support facilities seem to work well. It's just that overall I like a casino not just for the ability to gamble. The lack of user-specific betting at Blackjack, for example, I see as annoying. Nevertheless, for those that want a quick and easy casino that doesn't have the bells and whistles of many casinos, Strike it Lucky is certainly recommended.
