Grand Hotel Casino Review

Grand Hotel Casino:

Grand Hotel Casino has been around for a number of years now - when I first joined over 4 years ago I successfully won $50 off a free no-deposit bonus that was being offered at the time. Yet despite getting off to a good start, I never went back to play again. However, noting that Online-Casinos.com was missing a Grand Hotel review, I decided to go back to see if my luck was still good at this Microgaming-powered casino.

Getting started at Grand Hotel Casino is really easy, and to obtain the required software a player simply has to visit the attractive Grand Hotel website. As with many Microgaming-powered casinos, Grand Hotel offers both download and no-download versions of the casino. However, as regularly readers will know, I always recommend opting for the download version - as this offers the most choice in terms of games - 267 at Grand Hotel.

However, the download installation process is actually a bit different at Grand Hotel when compared to other Microgaming-powered casinos. This is because a 325k installer program is used. Once downloaded (which takes just seconds on even the slowest of connections) this software then obtains further files required for successful operation. To pass the time, it's actually possible for players to register while this download and installation procedure is taking place. Of course, having made an account years ago I didn't have to create a new account this time. However, those that do create a new account can do so in US $, UK £, Euros or Canadian $. A nice touch at Grand Hotel is that a player can log in for 'play' or for 'real' using the same account number, something I've not seen at any other Microgaming-powered casino.

One of the great things about Grand Hotel that attracted me the first time around, is that all new players are welcomed to the casino with free money. $12 will be added completely free to all new player accounts - and while this money might not seem like a lot, it's still enough to \ hit a jackpot if a player's luck is in! Furthermore, up to $100 can also be claimed on top of a first deposit made by the player. For those that like a nice sign-up bonus, this really could be attractive!

Of course, for those that decide to make Grand Hotel their casino of choice, making deposits is vital - you can't live on free money for too long! Thankfully the Grand Hotel cashier is simple to use, and a large variety of deposit options are available. These include credit and debit card depositing options, as well as a number of e-wallet solutions such as FirePay and NETeller. Feeling somewhat rich, I decided to make a large $200 deposit to see if some big betting would make me a fortune.

As stated earlier, a huge number of games are available. Thankfully, finding a desired game is not as difficult as it may sound thanks to the Grand Hotel lobby. This lobby utilizes a menu system to break games down by type, and with the clever game preview function, it's possible for a player to see an overview of a game before they play it or even download it. The lobby also provides access to auditing features such as Playcheck and Cashcheck.

One game that I always play is Blackjack, and at Grand Hotel I started my play on this very game. A great selection of Blackjack games are available including the Gold Series. This set of games offers enhanced graphics and game play, and really takes playing to another level. For those that like jackpots, there's even a progressive jackpot Blackjack table. This game is played as single-hand in the usual manner, but with a one credit compulsory side bet allowing access to bonus payouts (payable for combinations of the '7' cards appearing). Like all blackjack games at Grand Hotel, this game is enhanced with the use of a dealer voiceover. However, the really nice thing is that this feature, along with many at the casino, is completely user-configurable. Incidentally, the Blackjack games accept bets from $2 to $200 which should satisfy most players.

I also played some of the other table games available, and I must say I was very impressed with the selection available. As well as the classics, such as the Blackjack games already mentioned, other less well-known games such as Sic Bo and Pai Gow Poker are also available. In particular, I did well at the 3-Card Poker table, where a flush paid me over $75 when I was betting an ante of $16. One of the great things with an online casino is that it costs very little to host a game, and as such a player is able to play a much bigger range of games compared to real brick and mortar casinos.

Of course, a casino offers much more than just table games - and so I moved over to check out some of the Video Poker games available. The Video Poker offering is something that has really improved at all Microgaming-powered casinos, and at Grand Hotel this is definitely true. As well as classic games such as Jacks or Better, a number of new games have recently been introduced including the great All Aces game. The pay table in this game rewards landing 4 Aces with a 2000-coin payoff!

There are also a great number of multi-hand video poker games available. These offer the player the chance to bet on 10, 50 or even 100 hands at once. While these games can be hugely volatile, the big wins can also be huge. This is particularly true when a 'winning' hand is dealt on the initial deal, because all a player needs to do is hold this win across every hand. This happened to me playing 50-hand Jacks, where I was dealt 2 pair on the initial deal. After the re-deal my $50 bet had become a lovely $124!

In fact, I actually did quite well across most of the Video Poker games I tried. However, while this was partly due to good fortune, I was also significantly aided by the excellent 'Expert function' built in to the majority of Grand Hotel's games. This feature allows a player to look up the best cards to hold, and as such allows perfect play to take place with ease. A player can even set the computer to play automatically, although for me this removes a lot of the fun. Nevertheless, additions such as this really do increase the playability factor for the player.

The final area I decided to check out at Grand Hotel Casino was the slot section. As Microgaming fans will know, slots is something that MG-powered casinos do well, and at Grand Hotel this definitely holds true. The range of games is huge, and the offering includes video slots, mechanical-style games, progressive jackpot slots and ones with huge bonuses. With expert auto-play functions built in to every game, slot playing really does become fun. Want to know your biggest win in the session or how many spins you've had? No problem - the in-game stats will tell you all you need to know.

The graphics and game play are also excellent across the vast majority of the slot games available. A real focus has been given to the design of many of the games, and I think this shows through in the excellent graphics and sound effects employed. Similarly, the thought that's gone into bonus rounds is clearly evident. Some of the bonuses are really fun, and fit excellently with the numerous themes employed through the slots available.

Unfortunately, I didn't have too much luck on the slots! Part of this was because of my attempts to 'bet big and win big'. Sometimes this happens - once a $9 spin at another casino netted me $1500 on a bonus slot, but this time it just diminished my money to nothing. However, I did have fun on the games I played, and some individual wins were quite juicy. A $3 bet on Cash Splash, for example, returned a nice $83, although the $13,000+ jackpot would have been nice! I also really enjoyed the Major Millions Megaspin game. This game takes the traditional Major Millions game but allows play to occur over multiple machines. To see them all spinning is a sight to behold, although at $3 per machine this can be costly too!

As stated, this time my boom or bust strategy failed miserably, and probably isn't something I'll be trying again soon! Having said that, I did have fun, and I know that withdrawals are expediently processed at Grand Hotel Casino. A pending period is imposed on all withdrawals, but generally after 72 hours a withdrawal will have gone through pending and have finished processing. This time frame is fine and is one of the plus points at playing at a well-established casino.

When it comes to support at Grand Hotel Casino, this is provided on a 24/7 basis. What's more, speaking to a support representative is made very easy. Firstly, email support is available, as you would expect. However, the ease of support lies in the fact that a number of toll-free numbers are available, covering many major countries. Even better, a call back facility is available where a player simply needs to request a call and a support representative will call straight back - very impressive.

In conclusion, I have to say I this Grand Hotel is a decent casino, even if this time around my luck was not too hot. The fact this casino has been established for a number of years is a positive sign, and with banking and support working well, this is clearly a major draw. The games themselves are varied and are presented in a high-quality manner. With a couple of generous sign-up bonuses - including a free cash offer - I really think this casino should be tried. Who knows, perhaps you'll have the luck that I was missing!
